LTI® Launch
A launch is what happens when someone clicks a link to a tool inside an LMS. Rather than simply opening a page, the platform and the tool complete a handshake first.
In LTI® 1.3 that means an OIDC login initiation, an authentication request, and finally a signed ID Token that tells the tool who the user is, which context they came from, and which services are available.
The user sees none of it. Done correctly, they click a link and arrive at the tool already signed in. See receiving your first launch.
