LTI® 1.1

LTI® 1.1 launched a tool with an HTML form post signed using OAuth 1.0a and a secret shared between the platform and the tool. It carried no standard way to read a roster, and grades went back through Basic Outcomes.

1EdTech deprecated it in 2022 in favour of LTI® 1.3. Material describing oauth_consumer_key, oauth_signature or an XML configuration with blti:launch_url is written for 1.1 and does not apply to a current integration.

Some platforms still offer 1.1 alongside 1.3. Choosing it for a new integration means adopting a deprecated security model.

LTIAAS supports 1.1 where it is still genuinely needed. It is off by default and enabled per account on request, so an institution that cannot move to 1.3 yet does not have to block the rest of an integration. Ask us if that applies to you.
