A learning management system connected to several tools

The Platform Half of LTI®

Implementing the platform side means issuing signed launches, publishing a key set, and serving every Advantage endpoint. LTIAAS Connect provides that layer.

Your Own Domain

Run Connect on an ltiaas.com subdomain, or point a domain of your own at our servers so launches carry your branding.

Tools Work as They Expect

Tools see a standards-compliant platform, so anything already built for LTI® 1.3 works against your LMS without special-casing.

Receive Your First LTI® Launch in Minutes

Register an LMS, point us at a URL, and LTIAAS performs the handshake and redirects the user to your application.

What Is It

LTI® has two roles. A tool is the application a learner is sent to; a platform is the learning management system that sends them. Most of what is written about LTI® covers the tool side. LTIAAS Connect is for teams building the platform.

Being a platform means more than redirecting a user. You have to sign each launch as a JWT, publish and rotate a public key set, respond to the tool's OAuth2 token requests, and implement the Advantage services the tool then calls: Names and Roles for the course roster, Assignment and Grade Services for the gradebook, and Deep Linking for content selection.

LTIAAS Connect handles the protocol and the cryptography, and calls webhooks in your LMS for the parts only you can answer: who is enrolled in this course, what is in this gradebook, record this score. Your LMS stays the source of truth; LTIAAS speaks LTI® on its behalf.

Product Features

Cover the LTI® 1.3 Advantage Services

Names and Roles, Assignment and Grade Services and Deep Linking each map to a webhook in your LMS. LTIAAS validates the tool's request, calls your webhook, and formats the response the way the specification requires.

One Integration, Every LTI® Tool

Register a tool once and your users can launch into it. Because the tools see a conformant platform, adding the next one is a registration rather than a project.

A Documented API on Both Sides

The endpoints you call to start a launch, the endpoints tools call to complete one, and the requests LTIAAS makes back to your LMS are all specified — so you can see the whole contract before you commit to it.

Tell Us About Your Learning Management System

Connect is scoped to the system it plugs into. Send us a note about your LMS and how your users expect to reach external tools, and we will take it from there.
