Does Schoology Support LTI® 1.3?
The short answer
Yes. Schoology Learning — now part of PowerSchool — supports LTI® 1.3 and the LTI® Advantage services as specified by 1EdTech Consortium, Inc.. Registration is manual.
How registration works
An administrator creates a new tool in the Schoology installation, and the values it produces are then registered on your side. There is no dynamic registration, so the exchange is by hand and the usual care applies: check the client ID for stray characters, and check the URLs for trailing slashes.
Coming from LTI® 1.1
Schoology supported LTI® 1.1 for a long time before adding 1.3, and integrations built against the older version have been moving across.
If you have an existing Schoology integration on 1.1, the thing to plan for is user identity: the identifier you matched users on under 1.1 is not guaranteed to be the value 1.3 sends, so a straight switch can make returning users look like new ones. Migrating from LTI® 1.1 to LTI® 1.3 covers how to handle that.
LTIAAS can run both versions during a transition, so an institution that has not moved yet does not hold up the rest of the rollout. It is off by default — ask us if you need it.
Naming
Schoology is part of PowerSchool, and appears in current documentation as Schoology Learning and PowerSchool Schoology. Both refer to the same platform.

Common questions
Does Schoology support LTI® Advantage?
Yes, including deep linking and grade services. As always, what a specific course grants depends on how the tool was installed.
Does Schoology support dynamic registration?
No. Registration is manual, so the values are exchanged by hand between the administrator and the tool.
I have a Schoology LTI® 1.1 integration. Do I need to move?
Not urgently, but 1.1 is deprecated and gains no new services. Plan for user identity when you do move, because the identifiers differ between versions.
